The Central Arkansas Alumnae Chapter (CAAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered in 1996. CAAC is a non-profit organization that is comprised of college-educated women committed to both the constructive development of its members and public service.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., at its inception, was established to provide aid and assistance to the economically disadvantaged communities and work to remove and/or neutralize racial and economic disparities. Central Arkansas Alumnae Chapter has accepted the charge from the National Executive Board of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to continue this mission in the community in which we serve. Central Arkansas Alumnae Chapter services Conway, Faulkner, Lonoke, Pulaski, Saline and White counties.
Since the inception of CAAC, the members have organized various projects and activities to support the mission and goals of the sorority. Each individual member adds expertise to the programs and projects developed and implemented by CAAC. The Central Arkansas Alumnae Chapter is dedicated to promoting the ideas of sisterhood, scholarship, and service throughout the community.
To date, Central Arkansas Alumnae boasts a membership of about 120 dedicated women. We are constantly on the move and growing! Our doors are always open to new ideas, as well as to sorors looking for a chapter to call home. We invite you to come grow with us as we serve the needs of the central Arkansas area.
We started as a simple activist group but have since grown into a full-fledged non-for-profit that is capable of taking on the biggest challenges we face environmentally. Here’s a quick look at how we got to where we are today.
Our first set of members got together in a garage to plan community sustainability awareness events and a local recycling group.
We officially organized into a nonprofit. This was a big step for us since it finally enabled us to fully apply 100% of donated funds to our cause.
Our first satellite office opened overseas and we became a true global organization.
This year we are expanding to include third party organizations in our network, as well as adding office in 10 more countries putting us on (almost) every continent, leaving us a goal to reach Antartica by 2017.
We have plenty of causes, missions and #goals we hope to achieve. Watch the video to learn more.
Now that you know about us, we want to get to know you. Find out how you can get involved with our work today!
